In the midst of the roaring twenties in the seedy city of Chicago, Roxie Hart, an ambitious chorus girl, passionately murders her lover. Unable to convince her gullible husband, Amos, to take the rap, Roxie becomes a jailbird babe along with the famous Velma Kelly and The Six Merry Murderesses. Both Roxie and Velma seek publicity for the sake of their acquittal and their careers with the help of the vivacious matron, Mama Morton. In the end their tricky lawyer, Billy Flynn, becomes the dazzling ring leader of their misleading courtroom show and produces a stunning verdict that neither Roxie nor Velma could ever have predicted.
